Gambit Gaming's Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev, Rustem "mou" Tlepov and Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov have been fined "one-third of their monthly salary" after an incident at The World Championship qualifiers in which Dosia took Evgeniy "zLex" Kim's place on Team Kazakhstan in their match against Team France.
"First of all, we would like to apologize to the organizers of the tournament, the French national team and the fans of the Kazakhstan national team," Gambit said in a statement. "Such actions violate competitive integrity and cannot be performed by professional players."
Team Kazakhstan were disqualified from TWC 2016 on Saturday and the players involved were banned from participating in the tournament for the next two years. E-Frag also banned anyone from representing Kazakhstan next year.
The fines taken from the players' salaries will be given to an orphanage in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
