OpTic Gaming have won ELEAGUE Season 2 with a 2-1 Grand Finals win over Astralis.

This marks OpTic's second ever premier tournament victory, following their win at Northern Arena Montreal in November. The team made it into ELEAGUE by beating compLexity Gaming and the Detroit Renegades in the preliminary rounds, then placed second in their group with a 2-1 record.

In the playoffs, OpTic defeated mousesports and FaZe Clan 2-0 before facing off against Astralis, who beat Ninjas in Pyjamas and SK Gaming on the way to the Grand FInals.

In their match against OpTic, Astralis took Game 1 on Train with a convincing 16-9 scoreline, but faltered on Cobble in Game 2. OpTic cleaned up, going up 11-4 at the half, then dominated Astralis' T-side 5-2 to close out the map.

OpTic kept their momentum going into Game 3, taking six straight rounds after losing Round 2, but Astralis rallied, ending the half 8-7 in favor of OpTic. However, OpTic once again dominated on CT side, taking four quick rounds in succession before closing out the series 16-11.

For their victory, OpTic will be taking home the $400,000 grand prize while Astralis will have to settle for $140,000. OpTic already have a spot in the ELEAGUE Major Offline Qualifier since they qualified for the last Major at ESL One Cologne 2016.
