The first two teams to make the quarterfinal at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca were Luminosity Gaming and Team SoloMid after their win over Fnatic and G2 Esports respectively.
The first real upset of the tournament came at the despair of Fnatic fans as the defending Major champions fell to the Brazilians on Inferno.
The first half started off great for the Swedes and they put up an astonishing eight rounds on the Terrorist side of this traditionally Counter-Terrorist favored map.
In the second half, the Swedes started off hot by taking the pistol and following round but failed to contain the Brazilian offense for much longer.
A speedy approach with cold leading the way as the entry man was consistently an effect angle of attack and the Brazilian sharpshooter lead his team to victory 16-13 over Fnatic.
Team SoloMid followed quickly after the Brazilians advanced by taking down the G2 Esports club in convincing fashion.
The map of choice for both teams was Dust2, a traditionally great map for both teams and it began with both teams trading rounds to start off the match.
Once both teams settled down however, it was all Team SoloMid. They locked up their defense and the pug-ish G2 style had difficulty penetrating their defense.
A 10-5 half time score bloomed to an insurmountable hurdle when TSM took the pistol and G2 fell, 6-16.
