Gambit Gaming have entered into Counter-Strike, acquiring their first CS:GO roster which features a number of notable talents from Eastern Europe.
The new Gambit roster consists of many recent HellRaisers players and a few important players from the game's past:
- Mikhail "Dosia" Stolyarov
- Kazakhstan Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev
- Kazakhstan Rustem "mou" Telepov
- Rossia Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov
- Rossia Jan "wayLander" Rahkonen
The headline player for the team is Dosia — a legendary figure from Counter-Strike history — who hasn't been on a sponsored team since pulling out of HellRaisers in late 2015. Dosia is joined by his former teammates AdreN and mou in early October after their contracts with HellRaisers expired. hooch was a choice stand-in for HellRaisers during 2015, while wayLander spent the early part of the year with PiTER, but was teamless since June.
Gambit states that the team's primary focus is currently obtaining a spot at the MLG Major offline qualifier in the upcoming StarLadder CIS Minor Championship that will take place from Jan. 22-24.
They plan to take part in all premier tournaments in 2016 and hope to become a top 10 team by the end of 2016 — a feat which many of the players flirted with while playing for HellRaisers this past year.
Gambit also mentioned that they are currently looking to sign a coach for the team and are already talking to potential candidates to take the role. The team also has a bootcamp house set up in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
