Astralis coach Danny "zonic" Sorensen will be playing for Astralis instead of Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen for the remainder of the ESL One Cologne Major, the organization announced Wednesday.

dupreeh was taken to the hopsital earlier today for severe stomach pain. Though he said at the time that he was hoping to play for the rest of the tournament, Astralis now says he was diagnosed with appendicitis and will not be able to play this week.

"He’s been sick since yesterday and today he went to the hospital with severe stomach pains," Astralis stated on Facebook. "It turns out after several tests he has appendicitis which means his appendix has to be removed. He’ll be transferred to another hospital tonight and will go into surgery."

Dupreeh later stated on Twitter that he is undergoing surgery “as soon as possible.”

Astralis is already fielding Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander as a stand-in for Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye, as the latter player cannot compete for Astralis at the major due to roster-lock rules. The team are currently second in Group A, with a 1-1 record after beating Team Dignitas and losing to Gambit Gaming. Should they lose to Dignitas in tomorrow's decider match, they will be eliminated from the tournament.

With G2 Esports already eliminated from the tournament, Astralis likely would have been among the favorites to win the Major should they advance to the bracket stage of the event. Astralis have been shaky in Cologne however, winning a close game against Dignitas, and losing 16-6 to Gambit.

Over the last three months, Dupreeh has had a 1.09 HLTV rating, third on the team after Kjaerbye and Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz. Across the two games he has played at ESL One Cologne, he has had a less impressive 0.88 rating.
