Both Tarik "tarik" Celik and Faruk "pita" Pita will leave CLG's starting lineup after the conclusion of the current season of ELEAGUE, the team have announced.
pita is set to return to Europe to compete, while tarik plans to take a break from competitive play to focus on his streaming. tarik's contract with CLG is ongoing, so he will remain with the organization as a streamer for the duration.
pita's departure is, according to CLG, "a fresh start from the top down" for the team, and stems from a desire on pita's part to be closer to his family in Europe.
The first half of 2016 has been a struggle for CLG, and the additions of pita, Jacob "FugLy" Medina and Kenneth "koosta" Suen have not improved results. After a decent 5th-8th place finish at the MLG Major Championship: Columbus, they lost to GODSENT 2-0 in DreamHack Masters Malmö to finish 9th-12th. Their latest result at ESL One: Cologne is the worst of the bunch — a 13-16th place finish after a 16-1 trouncing at the hands of Dignitas.
CLG will be keeping their current roster for the remainder of ELEAGUE. They face elimination in their next match against FaZe Clan in the Last Chance Bracket.
After the changes, CLG's remaining roster will include:
- James "hazed" Cobb
- Kenneth "koosta" Suen
- Stephen "reltuC" Cutler
The organization has not decided on replacements for their roster post-ELEAGUE, saying "We’re consulting the players, experts in the scene, and new staffing options for the best ways to move the team forward."
