Chen "Hao" Zhihao and Zhang "Mu" Pan will not return to Newbee's roster for the fall season, the team announced Wednesday.
The announcement follows the release of Newbee's entire roster on Aug. 30 and coincides with an Aug. 18 Weibo post from Hao which said that he was taking a six month hiatus with the possibility of retiring.
Both Hao and Mu were founding members of Newbee's first roster, which formed on February 2014, and the pair went on to win The International 2014. Hao later left the team on March 2015, but rejoined on September 2015, while Mu has been a standing member since February.
According to a Tweet from Wykrhm Reddy, Wong "ChuaN" Hock Chuan has also parted ways with the team. He also says that Mu will be retiring.
ChuaN joined Newbee on December 2015, which also marked the end to his on-and-off, four-year long career with Invictus Gaming.
Mu later announced on Weibo that he was retiring from competitive Dota. According to a translation on Team Liquid's forums, Mu said he no longer feels he is in good form after The International 2016.
"It is a difficult decision and took me a lot of time," he wrote. "I am 27 this year. My career have lasted to this point where my strength can no longer support my heart. It is time for me no matter how much I will miss it. I thank Newbee, teammates and support from fans."
At TI6, Newbee were a top seed coming out of the Group Stage. They finished in 9th-12th place following a 2-0 loss to Evil Geniuses in the upper bracket and a 2-1 loss to Team Liquid in the lower bracket.
