China's Newbee Young, has replaced their entire Dota 2 roster for the 2017 season, opting to replace them with TongFu's current roster.

Newbee Young does so ahead of the 2017 Major qualifier, where rosters have now officially been locked. The TongFu roster has had more recent success overall than Newbee Young, winning Chinese LAN G-League in July, defeating teams such as Vici Gaming, Invictus Gaming, and the old Newbee Young roster.

In October, Newbee acquired TongFu's Dota 2 operations entirely, paving the way for such a transfer as the two companies engaged in a partnership before the Boston Major. They kept the rosters the exact same between the Boston Major roster lock and the end of 2016, but have shifted TongFu's players to officially be under the brand of Newbee. TongFu has attended The International twice before, while Newbee Young has only attended one major since their inception.

The Newbee Young roster is now:

  • Position 1: Tan "JiaJia" Lijia
  • Position 2: Yang "maoamo" Shihao
  • Position 3: Tan "kaidou" Yunxi
  • Position 4/5: Ma "XiaoXiao" Junju
  • Position 4/5: Luo "折纸折纸" Fuyu
