With this year's Arcana vote completed — in what was reportedly a very tight race — we will soon know who the next hero to have earned a coveted Arcana item will be.
There will no doubt be salt aplenty from some people, no matter who wins. But we certainly won't shed any tears if one of these 10 bad boys made the cut.

By MOBA standard's Invoker's design is pretty vanilla, which stands contrary to the fact that he's so mechanically complex you need a graduate degree in physics just to break 2K MMR.
It would be nice to see an Arcana item that really jazzes him up. Preferably something in the same Lovecraftian vein as the oh-so eldritch Covenant of the Depths set.
9. Shadow Shaman
Though less popular these days, Shadow Shaman has one of the coolest kits in the game with strong CC abilities and his signature ult, which creates a whole bunch of flaming snakes to guard the area around you.
If our boy Rhasta were to get an Arcana item, we hope it's something that affects the appearance of his serpent wards, making them bigger, badder and much nastier. Sorry Indy, it just had to be snakes.
Oof, is it getting edgy in here or is it just Abaddon? Dota 2's resident ghost knight demon dude already looks pretty cool even without an Arcana item. However, it'd be pretty sweet to see him get a really crazy mount to go with his stable of ghost beasts including a demonic stag and ram. Perhaps... a demonic velociraptor? Just a thought. Won't happen, but that would be pretty sweet.
7. Templar Assassin
Lanaya the Templar Assassin is a psychic, dark elf ninja. That's enough for us to want to see her get an Arcana skin. Since she's already clearly inspired by Starcraft, it would be sweet to see her get something sci-fi related... so long as it doesn't get Valve into another protracted legal battle with Blizzard.
6. Bounty Hunter
Admittedly, Bounty Hunter already has one of the best sets in the game with the Sergio Leone-inspired Hunter with No Name attire which transforms him into McCree's shorter, furrier cousin.
However, what Dota 2's stealthiest (probably) feline assassin really needs is a skin that turns him into Dog the Bounty Hunter. I mean, I guess it would be more Cat (or Rat) the Bounty Hunter but you get what I mean.
Look, I don't want to sound like a dick here, but Meepo didn't win the genetic lottery. What I'm trying to say is that Meepo is ugly. Like, really, really ugly.
As such, we feel he deserves a super cool Arcana item that will help show off his inner beauty. Like when a nerd gets a really good job as a software engineer, buys a Corvette and suddenly all those people who made fun of him in high school invite him to their barbecues.
Doesn't he deserve that much?
4. Nature's Prophet
Like Dr. Seuss's beloved conservation spokesperson The Lorax, Nature's Prophet speaks for the trees. Unlike The Lorax, Nature's Prophet has the balls to back up his hippy-dippy bullshit with an army of sentient trees.
Perhaps not the flashiest member of the Dota 2 cast, Nature's Prophet does have some of the best responses including "Kill a hero, save a tree" and "We will beat you with your own limbs." Someone get this man an Arcana right now.
3. Dragon Knight
There's an appealing simplicity to Dragon Knight's design. He is a knight who also happens to be a dragon. Both dragons and knights are friggin' awesome so logic dictates that a "Dragon Knight" is exponentially more awesome.
Thus, by giving him an Arcana item — preferably one that that alters his dragon forms a la Kindred of the Iron Dragon — we might be to achieve astronomical, previously inaccessible heights, in the field of awesomeness.
Man, dragons are so cool you guys.
Rubick is a nice Hero to say the least. With the ability to cast the last spell an opponent cast, he possesses the ability to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat... or he could whiff it and your team gets wiped giving the opposing team an insurmountable lead. It's sort of 50/50.
However, he possesses so much personality and uniqueness that we think Valve could get really creative with his Arcana item.
Love him or hate him — okay, admittedly we mostly hate him — Pudge is one of the most iconic heroes in the game. A deformed, hook-wielding monstrosity, we feel it would be super-appropriate for him to get an Arcana item based on an equally gruesome horror movie star, similar to the Friday the 13th-inspired Mask of the Mad Harvester.
Or if that fails, a bigger, bloodier hook.
