Virtus.pro's Dota 2 team has disbanded, according to team captain Artem "fng" Barshak. The organization also released its managers involved with the Dota 2 team, according to cybersport.ru.
Since The International 5, VP has seen increasingly worse results in tournament after tournament, with a Top 8 finish at The Frankfurt Major and a Top 12 finish at The Shanghai Major. The team changed its roster following Shanghai, but failed to qualify for either The Manila Major or The International 6.
Virtus.pro created a second squad, Polarity, in March. Several of VP’s players left to join the new team, which has yet to make much of an impact on the CIS region.
In May, VP was disqualified from The Summit 5 after the team admitted that Vladimir "No[o]ne" Minenko had played for VP using Ilya "ALOHADANCE" Korobkin's account during part of their European Qualifier Grand Finals match against Ad Finem.
According to cybersport.ru, the organization plans to return to Dota 2 following The International 6 with a new approach. Alongside the roster drop, the organization also removed Global Team Manager Sergey "Diver233" Pisotsky and Dota 2 Manager Gegory "drAmer" Faleev from the team.
VP's roster at the time of disbandment was as follows:
- Ilya "ALOHADANCE" Korobkin
- Sergey "G" Bragin
- Maxim "yoky-" Kim
- Artem "fng" Barshak
- Alexander "NoFear" Churochkin
