PawN to start for EDG against ROX

Heo “PawN” Won-seok will be EDward Gaming's starting mid in the team's quarterfinal match against the ROX Tigers, according to

Through the group stage, EDG have fielded PawN as well as Lee "Scout" Ye-chan in mid lane, but PawN was their choice for the team's group-deciding battle against ahq e-Sports Club on Oct. 8. They won the game decisively, with 20 kills to seven and 11 towers to six. PawN scored seven kills and nine assists with Vladimir without any deaths.

PawN played again in the group tiebreaker against H2K. Though EDG lost the match, PawN ended with a 8/5/3 KDA versus H2K's mid, Yoo "Ryu" Sang-ook, who had a 2/4/1 record.

He also played in two Week 1 games, against ahq on Oct. 1, which EDG won, and against INTZ, which they lost.

PawN was the team's sole mid laner until March, when the team brought on Scout to fill in for PawN while he was suffering from a back injury. The team made Scout, who was a sub for SKT in 2015, their starting mid in May.

The team said they would not comment on the reasons for the substitution. EDG will face off against ROX Tigers on Oct. 15.
