After two years with Chinese organization EDward Gaming, mid laner Heo "PawN" Won-seok announced that he would be leaving EDG on his Facebook page. Shortly after, EDG AD carry Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu also announced that he would be leaving the team via Facebook, though Deft will stay with the team through the Demacia Cup in November.

Both former Samsung players joined EDG in the 2014-15 offseason.

EDG recently represented China in the 2016 World Championship. They finished as the second seed in Group C, but lost to the ROX Tigers in the quarterfinals. Mid laner Lee "Scout" Ye-chan started in all four of their games against the Tigers and most of the recent LPL Summer season due to PawN's ongoing back issues.
