Team Liquid have signed former Counter Logic Gaming mid laner Austin "Link" Shin, according to Riot Games' contract database. Though the database does not specify his role, it is is likely the formerly-retired mid laner will be a substitute for the team.
Link has not played LoL professionally since stepping down from CLG's starting roster in May 2015 after the team were eliminated from the quarterfinals of the 2015 NA LCS Spring Playoffs following a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Team Liquid. Link accrued a 4.5 KDA in the Spring 2015 regular season with 75.3 percent kill participation in 19 games.
Following the split, Link released an 18-page letter criticizing the org, calling its management "close-minded" and its then AD carry Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng a poor team player.
Also signed on the database are substitutes Lyonel "Arcsecond" Pfaender, Omran "Viper" Shoura, the team's coach David "Varsix" Lim, and Team Liquid Academy's Galen "Moon" Holgate.
Team Liquid announced its starting roster in December, with Korean ADC Chae "Piglet" Gwang-jin returning to the LCS roster after playing with Team Liquid Academy in the Challenger Series. They also signed Kim "Reignover" Yeu-jin and Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer in the offseason as their starting jungler and mid laner respectively.
