FC Schalke 04 Esports have released their finalized roster for the Challenger Series, in an announcement on Friday.
Veteran support player Oskar "VandeR" Bogdan is the first member of the overhauled roster. Joining him in bottom lane will be AD carry Elias "Upset" Lipp, a new face to the scene after entering competitive play in 2016. Also on the roster are top laner Lennard “SmittyJ” Warkus formerly of Team Dignitas, jungler Jean-Victor “loulex” Burgevin from Unicorns of Love, and mid laner Marcin “Selfie” Wolski formerly of Misfits.
Rounding out the roster are Schalke's new chief analyst David Espinar “Nodriza” Griñó and head coach Michael “Veteran” Archer, the former chief analyst for H2k-Gaming. Together with the players, they will be heading to Schalke's new dedicated esports training house to start off the season.
"We have been able to foster the environment for a lasting commitment to [esports]," spoke Schalke Marketing Board member Alexander Jobst. "Naturally, integrating the new department into the overall club structure was very important to us and, going forwards, we will be finding the areas where we can most effectively apply our wealth of experience in professional football to Esports."
Schalke believes they have provided their new players the support they need for a successful start. The team will be looking to return to the EU LCS after their relegation during the 2017 EU LCS Spring Promotion.
