Team Liquid have confirmed to theScore esports that Chae "Piglet" Gwang-jin will be moving from AD carry to mid lane while Jung "Youngbin" Young-bin takes over as ADC, following a report from ESPN's Jacob Wolf.
"After a week of testing, we've made a roster change, moving Chae "Piglet" Gwang-jin to play in the mid-lane, with Young-bin "Youngbin" Chung back in the Team Liquid roster, in the AD Carry role," the team's manager, Michael Artress, said in an email. "This was a great combination in scrims, and we're excited to see what progress we can make in the remainder of the LCS Spring split."
The team announced tryouts for the team, in particular for the mid lane position, on Feb. 21, saying that their current midlaner, Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer, was underperforming in a Facebook Live AMA.
"We recognize that Goldenglue is underperforming on the roster. We understand the damage dealt in teamfights associated with that. We understand that the meta is very different than where our strengths lie as a team," Team Liquid CEO, Steve "Liquid112" Arhancet, said in the video.
Piglet has played for Liquid as an ADC since January 2015 and was previously a member of SK Telecom T1 from 2013 to 2014. He currently has a 2.5 KDA and 70.4 percent kill participation in the 2017 spring season. Youngbin previously played mid for Team Liquid Academy in 2015 and served as a sub for the LCS roster in the 2016 Spring Split.
According to Artress, the role change is currently pending approval from Riot Games.
