GEICO has made their entry into the world of competitive gaming following a joint announcement by One Nation of Gamers (ONOG) and Team SoloMid on Wednesday.

As one of the largest private passenger auto insurance companies in the United States, GEICO's entry into eSports sponsorship is a huge leap for the industry.

Andy Dinh, CEO of TSM, had this to say about the recent sponsorship:

“I’ve always admired GEICO’s commitment to having a meaningful involvement in traditional sports. We’re thrilled they’re bringing that level of dedication to the gaming space.”

GEICO's endeavors into eSports does not end with team sponsorship however, as a series of Hearthstone tournaments named 'The Summer Circuit' will be hosted by One Nation of Gamers and sponsored by GEICO.

The circuit, which is set to go live on June 6, will feature a total prize pool of $60,000 USD along with a a chance for contestants to collect valuable Hearthstone World Championship points.

“GEICO is one of the largest insurance companies in the US, and their involvement in eSports highlights just how pervasive gaming culture has become in everyday life,” - Deric Ortiz, founder of One Nation of Gamers.
