Despite his team's late-season success, Team Impulse support player Adrian "Adrian" Ma has announced he will be temporarily stepping down from the starting role.

Taking to TwitLonger, Adrian expressed frustration with his play and cited a loss of confidence as the main reasons for his decision.

"I feel like I have not lived up to our expectations and anything I do is not enough" he said. "I will be temporarily stepping down from the starting support role due to losing confidence in myself."

He also added "[I] don't feel like I'm part of a team".

Adrian's announcement comes on the heels of the news that Austin "Gate" Yu was joining the squad to compete for the starting support role.

There have been rumors of potential internal issues on Team Impulse, possibly stemming from language barriers, for some time. Two weeks ago, a report from the Daily Dot indicated the team was looking to replace Ma, ultimately culminating in the addition of Yu.

At this time it is unknown whether or not Yu will step into the starting role immediately.

Team Impulse have also taken to Twitter to express their support for Adrian's decision. "We could not have made it as far as we have without him, and we hope that when he returns on Wednesday from a very brief trip home that he remains an active member of the Team Impulse roster", the team said in a Twitlonger post.

With their sixth straight win over TSM earlier today, Team Impulse currently sits in a three-way tie for second place in the NA LCS with a record of 10-5, and is making a strong late-season push. Team Impulse is scheduled to play last-place Team Dragon Knights on July 19th.

Ma is currently the league leader in assists (186), leads all supports in kill participation and ward placed per minute.
