Barring the need to play promotion matches, this will be Steven "CaliTrlolz8" Kim's last week as an LCS player.

The Team 8 top laner took to Twitter to confirm that he would be stepping away from the competitive scene following the conclusion of the North American LCS' final week of regular season play.

A fan favorite for his unusual champion picks and positive attitude, Kim's original entry into the LCS was marked by uncertainty due to his acceptance into several pharmacy schools in California.

Prior to the NA Spring Split, Kim took to reddit with a petition to the universities to defer his enrollment and allow him to compete in the LCS. In a matter of days, the petition reached 12 000 signatures and was ultimately successful, giving Kim time with which to compete.

Kim's announcement indicates he has most likely decided to return to his studies, and a follow-up statement is expected shortly.

Officially knocked out of playoff contention this season, Team 8 have been unsuccessful to reach the playoffs in two consecutive splits. Team 8 is currently sitting in seventh with a record of 6-10 and play Team Liquid and Counter Logic Gaming to close out the season. Eighth place Cloud9 is close on their heels with a 5-10 record and could challenge in the final week of play, possibly forcing Team 8 down into the promotion tournament.

At this time there is no word on Kim's replacement should Team 8 be successful in retaining their LCS spot.
