Just a day after Team Impulse's mid laner Yu "XiaoWeiXiao" Xian was suspended for ELO boosting, the team released an official statement to clarify the situation.

XiaoWeiXiao apologized for and acknowledged his actions, saying, "Because of my ignorance, I did not realize ELO boosting is a such severe incident, so it happened. I assure you guys, this was the first time and last time I would ever do such thing."

The team followed up on XiaoWeiXiao's statement by explaining that this was "to their knowledge" the first offense by the Chinese mid lane specialist. Continuing on, the team said that "this was an isolated incident that neither the players, management, nor the organization as a whole were aware of or involved in."

General Manager of Team Impulse, Alex Gu, stressed that "our organization [Team Impulse] takes ELO boosting and other misconducts seriously, and that our staff will make sure this scenario is never repeated in the future [...] Acknowledging the severity of XWX's actions, we are considering our own punishment."
