NRG eSports have acquired Diego "Quas" Ruiz, Lucas "Santorin" Tao Kilmer Larsen and Alan "KiWiKiD" Nguyen, according to a report from ESPN's Jacob Wolf Tuesday.

NRG CEO Andrew Pruett also told ESPN that Johnny "Altec" Ru, Kevin "KonKwon" Kwon and Galen "Moon" Holgate will leave the team, while Lee "GBM" Chang-seok will stay on.

Quas’ acquisition comes as a surprise, since he announced in December last year that he was retiring from professional gaming, following his departure from Team Liquid. He was rumored to be joining Immortals’ Challenger team, along with Santorin, but those rumors have since been quashed.

Santorin’s career trajectory has been in flux since his departure from Team SoloMid in October of last year. He joined Team Huma on Dec. 14, then left the team and signed up with Ember on Feb. 27, with a reported salary of $105,000. Less than a month later, after failing to qualify for the NA LCS 2016 Summer Promotion, Ember released most of their roster.

KiWiKiD is the former support player for Team Diginitas, a team he has played on for nearly two and a half years. Dignitas finished in last place during the NA LCS 2016 Spring Split with a 4-14 record, and has reportedly sold its Challenger Series spot to Apex Gaming.

NRG finished in the middle of the pack at the end of the NA LCS 2016 Spring Split, in fifth place with a 9-9 record. Their middling results continued into the 2016 Spring Playoffs, where they finished 5h-6th after Team Liquid swept them 3-0 during the quarterfinals.

According to ESPN, Altec will also be replaced on NRG's new lineup, though a new AD carry has not been announced. Altec is reportedly now playing for Cloud9's new Challenger team, which will compete for the first time in the Summer Split.

NRG's incomplete roster looks as follows:

  • Diego "Quas" Ruiz
  • Lucas "Santorin" Tao Kilmer Larsen
  • Lee "GBM" Chang-seok
  • Alan "KiWiKiD" Nguyen
