Schalke 04 have parted ways with their League of Legends team manager, Jacob "Maelk" Toft-Andersen, the organization confirmed to theScore esports Tuesday.

Maelk joined the organization when they purchased Elements' spot in the EU LCS in May. After the sale, Maelk moved from owner of Elements to Schalke 04's manager. However, the team failed to re-qualify for the 2017 EU LCS Spring Split after placing eighth in the 2016 EU LCS Spring Split, and losing their promotion match to Misfits 3-1.

When contacted about the personnel change, a spokesperson for Schalke stated that it was due to "restructuring."

Schalke 04 has reportedly expressed interest in re-qualifying for the LCS through the next season of the Challenger Series, though it is unclear if they plan on shuffling their roster along with their management.

Maelk has yet to make a statement regarding the departure.
