Team Liquid has acquired SK Gaming's Quake pro Shane "rapha" Hendrixson as their flex player, the team announced on Saturday.
rapha recently won the QuakeCon 2016 Quake Live Duel Masters Championship, but the player has not seen much success in Overwatch. Playing on a team dubbed Still Here, rapha competed in a number of cups placing in the lower half of the brackets, but finished in fifth-sixth place during Agents Rising.
rapha spoke about coming into the Liquid roster in the team's press release.
"I've known id_ and DaHanG for a long time from Quake and I've played with both of them on several teams," he said. "They needed the flex position filled on the team and since that's what I've focused on trying to do in Overwatch, they gave me a chance to tryout and it's been a good fit.
"I really like the team atmosphere with attitudes and personalities. Everyone is really focused on the big picture and always trying to focus on improving and problem solving, which is a really good environment to be in to try and succeed," he said.
Liquid will debut with their new lineup in the Overwatch Open North America Regional, where they face Colorado Clutch in their opening match of the group stage.
Team Liquid's Overwatch roster now looks as follows:
- Tim "DaHanG" Fogarty
- Adam "MESR" De La Torre
- Kevin "AZK" Larivière
- John "Minstrel" Fisher
- Andrew "id_" Trulli
- Shane "rapha" Hendrixson
