Immortals, the venture capital-backed North American esports organization, has entered the growing Overwatch field, with the acquisition of the roster formerly playing as Sodipop.

The team came together earlier in the summer, with fairly consistent results in events through July and August. Recently, they placed 5th-8th at the North American Regional for the Overwatch Open, qualifying the team for the ELEAGUE and FACEIT-backed tournament later this month.

"The roster consists of a group of young, committed players, with uncanny mechanical skills and deep motivations to grow," the organization said in a statement on Facebook.

Ahead of the Overwatch Open, the team's first major outing under the Immortals banner, the roster will spend two weeks at the Immortals base in Santa Monica, working with "the support of a professional manager and performance coach," according to the org.

The Immortals Overwatch roster currently includes:

  • Christopher "Grimreality" Schaefer - DPS
  • Brady "Agilities" Giradi - DPS/Flex
  • Athen "Aythen" Zhu - Support
  • Jeremy "Jer" SantaCruz - Support/Flex
  • George "Hyped" Maganzini - Flex
  • David "Nomy" ramirez - Tank
  • Morgan "Kurjun" Daine Pasilis - Coach
