River Plate signs FIFA player, announce tournament

River Plate, an Argentine soccer club, have signed FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer player Franco Colagrossi as the first member of their River Play esports division, according to The Esports Observer.

The team will be holding a tournament with an online qualifier called Copa River Play at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti, the team's stadium, where they will announce a second player.

River Plate follow in the footsteps of several European soccer clubs which have also signed FIFA players, including AFC Ajax, Manchester City and Sporting Lisbon.
