CWL to hold events in London, Paris, Birmingham and Sheffield

The Call of Duty World League have announced four major events in Europe for 2017, with Opens set for Paris, Birmingham and Sheffield and an invitational tournament in London Jan. 27-29. All four events offer hefty CWL pro points purses to the winning teams, all but guaranteeing them spots in the CWL Global Pro League in April and even the 2017 world championship later in the year.

CWL London will take place at the Gfinity Arena with the Top 16 European CWL pro points earners competing for the $25,000 prize pool and the 5,000 pro points on the line for the winner.

The CWL Paris Open will take place Feb. 17-19 as part of ESWC Winter 2017 at the Porte de Versailles. The top eight EU points earners will receive invites to the event while 96 teams from every region will compete in the open bracket for the final four pool play slots. The tournament will have a $100,000 prize pool with 10,000 pro points going to the winner.

Insomnia 60 will host the CWL Birmingham Open Apr. 14-16. As with the Paris Open, the top eight EU pro points earners will receive invites while four teams will meet them in pool play through the open bracket. The prize pool will be $50,000 with the winners earning 10,000 pro points.

The CWL Sheffield Open will take place June 24-25 as part of the EGL 16 with the same format as the previous two opens and a $25,000 prize pool. CWL will compensate all invited teams for their travel and accommodation expenses at all four events.
