Long-time Ninjas in Pyjamas player Adam "friberg" Friberg has been replaced by Fredrik "REZ" Sterner, the organization announced on Monday.

The roster change comes after NiP's road to the Krakow Major 2017 was unexpectedly cut short, failing to qualify for the European Minor Championship. They were knocked out of the closed qualifier after losing to iGame, Red Reserve and Space Soldiers during the Swiss-format group stage.

friberg has been a NiP player for almost five years, since August 2012, and took the team to nine Majors, as well as a Major Championship at ESL One Cologne 2014.

REZ comes into the NiP roster from Epsilon Esports and the 19-year-old is considered a rising star from Sweden. He joins his former Epsilon teammate, William "draken" Sundin, on NiP.

"I am extremely happy to have been given the opportunity to play for NiP. This is a dream for every player that is working their way into the top scene," REZ said in the team's news release. "Together with the NiP team, I strongly believe we’ll reach the top.

"Reuniting with draken is also something that I'm really looking forward to as he’s been a long time teammate and a close friend. I am stoked to continue my career together with him and the other guys at NiP."
