Fresh off of Team Secret's early elimination at The International 2017, Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann and Pyo "MP" No-a are no longer part of the team, the organization announced Monday.

"The ending of The International 7 officially marks the beginning of a new season," Team Secret said in a statement. "As the team prepares for this new journey, we have a few announcements regarding our DOTA2 roster for the upcoming year."

"As of today Maurice ‘KheZu’ Gutmann and Noa ‘MP’ Pyo will be stepping down from the active team. A huge thank you to both Maurice and Noa for their invaluable contribution to the team. It has been a pleasure and we wish them the very best of luck moving forward."

Both KheZu and MP spent the bulk of the 2016-2017 season with Secret, joining the organization last November and August respectively. During their time with the team, Secret's most notable finish has been winning ROG MASTERS 2016 in November, having otherwise failed to win any notable tournament. In terms of Valve events, Secret tied for last place at The Kiev Major, and recently finished 9th-12th at TI7.

After the roster news was announced, KheZu released his own statement describing his final weeks with the team. In it, KheZu stated that the team had talked about kicking him shortly after they were eliminated by Team Liquid, and that he was eventually kicked shortly before his flight.

Despite being kicked, KheZu is looking forward to the future and is feeling reenergized heading into the upcoming season.

"I'm ready for the next step," KheZu said. "Sometimes you just need a little something to push you further and maybe this is it. Luckily, Team Secret is seemingly the academy for success. If I look at the people that have been kicked from Secret in the past, at least nearly all of them went on to be very successful and even greater players than before."

Team Secret's current roster is as follows:

Player Name Position
Zheng "MidOne" Yeik Nai 2
Yazied "YapzOr" Jaradat 4
Clement "Puppey" Ivanov 5
