Phoenix1 and Team Envy will not be included in the 2018 North American League of Legends Championship Series, according to a report from ESPN's Jacob Wolf.

Both P1 and Envy's applications were denied for undisclosed reasons, according to the report. As a result, both organizations will be forced to sell or terminate existing contracts with players and are entitled to compensation payments.

The news closely follows a report that the co-owner of the NBA's Golden State Warriors has acquired an NA LCS slot.

The 10 teams that will form the franchised 2018 NA LCS will be announced in November.
