This investment is hot on the heels of MTG's acquisition of 74% of Turtle Entertainment, which operates ESL, for $86 million.
According to DreamHack, the acquisition will not affect their operations. They will still be in charge of the business, as well as running all DreamHack events and eSports tournaments.
"Esports attracts a lot of different of investors right now, but in MTG we found a Swedish company that share the same entrepreneurial approach as DreamHack," said Stefan Magnusson, VP of DreamHack in the press release. "We’re extremely proud about the development we made the last 5 years, but we’re even more excited and thrilled about the coming 5 years, and how far we can take DreamHack.”
DreamHack is one of the largest eSports companies in the world, host to numerous eSports events in Sweden and all around Europe and will host their first events in Germany and the United States in 2016.
