William "Leffen" Hjelte is still facing visa issues and will not be attending Genesis 3, Team SoloMid announced Thursday.
Leffen was removed from Genesis 3's brackets earlier this week, and has been facing visa issues for some time. The Swedish prodigy missed major tournaments towards the end of 2015, including The Big House 5 and Smash Summit.
"It’s really rough to be missing out on such a huge tournament again, especially since the Genesis Series has always been very special to me," Leffen said in a press release. "The first Genesis was one of the first tournaments I ever watched, and Genesis 2 was my first time traveling to America as well as my first major, and they’re both a big part of why I still play Smash to this day."
Genesis 3 is set to be the second largest Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament of all-time. Leffen most recently competed at DreamHack Winter, where he placed ninth after being upset by Justin "Plup" McGrath and James "Duck" Ma.
According to TSM's press release, Leffen's visa is in the "final stages" of processing, and Red Bull is helping the organization get the player back out to North America.
