Ninjas in Pyjamas have entered the competitive Overwatch landscape with the signing of all-Finnish Overwatch roster SG-1.
In the announcement on NiP's website, CEO Hicham Chahine said that the organization's expansion into Overwatch is part of a larger strategy "in order to be properly set for further growth, which includes expansion across multiple game titles."
"The Ninjas in Pyjamas legacy is about being at the top of every game we compete in and there is no exception as we enter into Overwatch," he said. "Our goal is become a top team during 2016. Together we will be writing a new chapter in the history of Ninjas in Pyjamas."
SG-1 has seen some success in weekly online events but has yet to break a Top 4 placement at a major event. They are currently playing in the Loser's Bracket at the EU Main Qualifier for the $100,000 ESL Atlantic Showdown, with their next match against Melty eSport Club.
DPS player Lauri "mafu" Rasi said that the came together after playing Team Fortress 2 together for some time.
"The majority of the team has a long history together," he said. "Mafu, hymzi, kyynel and zappis have known each other and played the same games for nearly a decade now, starting from the release of Team Fortress 2. With the addition of Seita and Fragi, who are most recently known for being a part of the legendary World of Warcraft guild Paragon, the roster is complete."
Here's how NiP's new roster looks:
- Lauri “mafu” Rasi (DPS)
