With Overwatch Contenders Season One - Europe set to start in just a few days, Cloud9 have signed Laser Kittenz in anticipation of the new season, the organization announced Sunday.
"What Laser Kittenz were able to do in Season Zero grabbed everyone’s attention, myself included," Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne said in a statement. "From top to bottom the organization proved themselves committed to competition, devoting their talent and time to earning their place in Season One. I’m excited to welcome them to the Cloud9 family and we’re all looking forward to adding to their already long list of accomplishments."
This is the second Overwatch team that Cloud9 have signed, joining their already existing North American Overwatch team. Laser Kittenz was originally formed in March, and most recently finished Overwatch Contenders Season Zero - Europe in 3rd-4th place.
"It is a great honor to join Cloud9," Laser Kittenz founder Ali "Alicus" Saba said in a statement. "Jack is a true industry leader, and the iconic brand he has built here speaks for itself. I’m happy to be able to fully focus on equipping us with the best possible chance at winning Overwatch League, and the road starts now with Contenders. Representing London is a dream come true and marks my return to the UK scene. I look forward to making all our fans proud."
Last week, Cloud9 purchased the London, England spot in the Overwatch League. At the time, Etienne said that while the team had the option of retaining their existing roster, they would also be looking at their roster to field the strongest players possible.
Cloud9's current EU roster is now as follows:
- Finley "Kyb" Adisi
- Carl "Crems" Aspehult
- Luis "Greyy" Perestrelo
- Ryan "Crusade" van Wegen
- Tiago "Mowzassa" Rodrigues
- Andreas "Nevix" Karlsson
