For competitors in every Blizzard game, BlizzCon is a big deal, but not all of the matches will take place on the big stage from Nov. 4-5.
The schedule for BlizzCon Opening Week was announced Thursday, and it detailed which matches will take place in the week preceding the event.
The Overwatch World Cup, which features national teams from countries across the globe, will hold all of their group stage matches from Oct. 29-31 during Opening Week. Eight teams will then enter the single-elimination bracket that will be played at BlizzCon proper.
Hearthstone, too, will hold all of the $1,000,000 World Championship's group stage matches from Oct. 26-30 during Opening Week. Eight players will take to the stage to play though a single-elimination bracket at the big event.
For Heroes of the Storm, BlizzCon is the site of the $1,000,000 Fall Global Championship. That event will feature two group stages, and the first — which will narrow the field to eight teams — will take place during Opening Week from Oct. 26-28. Some of the second group stage's matches will also happen during Opening Week, but all of the Top 8 will get the opportunity to play on the stage at BlizzCon.
StarCraft II will also narrow the field to eight during Opening Week. The $500,000, single-elimination tournament features best-of-five matches and a best-of-seven Grand Final.
World of Warcraft's eight teams will play some group stage matches on Oct. 28, and then all fly to the venue where they will fight for the $250,000 prize pool.
