Saleem "Salem" Akiel Young has signed with Most Valuable Gaming, the organization announced on Twitter Saturday.
Salem is considered the strongest Bayonetta player in the world, following a streak of tournament wins in September and October that saw him beat Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios, Nairobi "Nairo" Quezada and Gavin "Tweek" Dempsey, among other top players. He most recently placed first at Little Big House 2, where he defeated Yuta "Abadango" Kawamura in the Grand Finals.
Salem is best known in the Smash community for his Super Smash Bros. Brawl play, particularly his performance at Apex 2013. Salem was a relative unknown before that tournament, but defeated several pros on his way to beating Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman in the Grand Finals.
Salem is ranked fifth on the New Jersey Smash 4 power rankings, behind Nairo and Tweek.
