Justin "Plup" McGrath will not be playing at Super Smash Con this weekend due to "personal plans," his sponsor Panda Global announced Tuesday.

While Plup was registered for the tournament, he did not realize that he had made previous plans that weekend and will not be able to attend. It is unclear what those plans are. Plup was considered a favorite for Top 8 at the tournament, as he recently placed third at EVO 2016, fourth at CEO 2016 and fifth at Smash Summit 2.

Plup is considered to be one of the strongest Sheik players in the world, as well as the one of the few high-level Samus plays, and has taken sets off of every one of the five gods of Melee except for Adam "Armada" Lidngren. At EVO, Plup beat both Juan "Hungrybox" Debiedma and Joseph "Mang0" Marquez for the first time in 2016, marking the third time he's beaten Mang0 and his first win over Hungrybox in a major tournament set.

Super Smash Con runs from Aug. 12-14 in Chantilly, Virginia.
