Hayashi "Mago" Kenryo's took the top spot at the Capcom Pro Tour Asia Regional Finals with two back-to-back 3-2 sets over Joe "MOV" Egami on Friday.
After MOV's Chun-Li sent Mago to Loser's earlier on in the tournament, the Karin player fought his way through Takahashi "Bonchan" Masato, Inoue "Kazunoko" Ryota and Tatsuya "Haitani" Haitani to avenge himself in the Grand Finals.
Ranked 17th on the global leaderboards, Mago was already qualified for Capcom Cup Finals. Winning a direct seed at the Asia Regionals opens up a space for someone else on the global leaderboards to qualify in his place.
Kazunoko is next in line for qualification via global points, but since he was also already qualified as the highest-ranked player on the Asia-Oceania leaderboard, his global qualification leaves room for one more from the AO region. That lucky invite will be Tse "Tse4444" Wa Ping, ranked 11th in AO with 132 points. Tse4444 also attended the Asia Regionals, placing 13th-16th.
Mago, Kazunoko, Tse4444 and 29 others are headed to Capcom Cup 2016 on Dec. 2-3 at the Playstation Experience in Anaheim California. The prize pool has been boosted to over $350,000 through sales of the Capcom Pro Tour DLC.
